MASONRY WALL MATERIALS CALCULATION

Suppose you have to construct a wall of length=4m, breadth=1m, & height=2m.
Volume=4*1*2=8m3

For 1 m3of stone work, you require 1.25 m3of stones. (Extra 0.25 m3 are to compensate for wastage during actual construction)
Therefore, quantity of stones required=8*1.25=10m3
Dry material required for 1m3of stone work=0.42m3

Therefore, total quantity of dry material (cement and sand) required=10*0.42 = 4.2m3
Cement and sand are taken in the ratio of 1:4 in case of stone work
Let the quantity of cement be represented by xm3

Therefore, x+4x = 4.2 m3
X=0.84 m3
Therefore quantity of cement required = 0.84 m3
1 m3of cement = 30 bags of cement
Therefore, 0.84 m3 of cement = 25.2 = 26 bags approx.
And quantity of sand required = 4*0.84 = 3.36 m3
